Find a better replacement. Keep what matters.
A decision-support atlas for finding free, open-source, offline, and lower-cost alternatives to the software and online services people already know. Each recommendation explains why it matches, what it does not replace, how hard migration is, and where the evidence came from.
Explore by category
Sixteen categories of software, each curated from publicly verifiable product pages and license files.
High-confidence replacement paths
Hand-picked paths where the evidence is strong, the alternatives are mature, and the migration is realistic.
Top picks across the dataset
Automatically recomputed from verified records. Counts and ranks update with the dataset.
The full atlas
Filter by category, pricing, platform, open-source status, offline support, self-hosting, migration effort, and evidence freshness.
Side-by-side comparison
Add up to four products to the tray. The comparison view makes differences visually obvious without relying on color alone.
Subscription savings calculator
Estimate annual and three-year savings when replacing a paid product with a free alternative. Honest defaults — never fakes numbers.

Methodology
Every entry is sourced from publicly accessible product pages, license files, and official documentation. Nothing is hidden behind a login.
Public sources only
Information comes from official websites, public GitHub repositories, SPDX, Open Source Initiative, and free documentation. No paywalled databases, no scraped private content.
Honest labels
Products are labelled Free, Freemium, Open Source, Trial, One-time, or Subscription. When information is not publicly stated, the Atlas says so rather than guessing.
Transparent scoring
Atlas Match is a transparent weighted score: feature overlap, platform fit, pricing fit, offline / open-source preference, import compatibility, migration effort, and evidence completeness.
Evidence per claim
Each product record includes a last-verified date and a list of public sources. Pricing, license, offline support, and import claims are tied to documentation where possible.
No claim of being exhaustive
The Atlas covers well-known products and the alternatives people actually search for. It is intentionally curated rather than scraped from every possible source.
No accounts, no servers
Saved collections live in your browser. The site works fully offline once loaded. No login. No tracking beyond a single anonymous Google Analytics tag.
Scoring weights
Atlas Match is the weighted sum of feature overlap (30%), platform compatibility (15%), pricing fit (15%), open-source preference (10%), offline preference (5%), privacy / self-hosting preference (10%), import compatibility (5%), and migration difficulty (5%, lower is better). The confidence score reflects how many of those signals are backed by verifiable public sources — a product with thin evidence cannot have a high confidence score.
